3,000 years of history. A collection that keeps the tradition alive.
By Elaine · Copper Artisan · Elaine's Copper
Most people have never once considered that a metal worn against the skin could do more for the body than the supplements sitting on the kitchen shelf.
For 3,000 years, copper was the one thing people kept coming back to. Warriors wore it on their joints. Healers pressed it to the skin. Generations who needed their bodies to keep working chose copper not as decoration, but as daily practice.
It's one of the oldest wellbeing traditions in human history. And almost nobody in the Western world talks about it anymore.
My name is Elaine. My family has worked with copper for generations, back to when Cornwall was the copper capital of the world, and in 1998 I picked up that tradition myself and started making pure copper jewellery by hand, one piece at a time. What follows is everything I've learned watching thousands of women put this metal on their skin, and never want to take it off again.

Copper is one of the essential minerals your body depends on. For joint health. For energy. For circulation. For the collagen that holds your connective tissue together.
Most women over 50 are chronically low in copper. The symptoms look like ageing: tiredness, stiff joints, poor circulation, brain fog.
It isn't ageing. It's deficiency.
Wearing copper is different from taking it as a supplement. Your skin absorbs trace ions continuously throughout the day, no pill, no schedule, no digestion involved. It's called transdermal absorption. Pure copper, straight into your body, all day long.
Many women choose more than one piece, so they can switch between them each day and never stop wearing it.
Before you buy another bottle of supplements, ask yourself this. When was the last time you actually gave your body copper?
Roman soldiers wrapped copper around their joints before battle. Medieval craftsmen wore it on their hands through decades of hard work.
The women who come to me with stiff wrists and sore fingers, they come back. They don't always tell me why. They don't have to.
I've never made a promise about what copper will do for your joints. I've only watched people stop noticing what they used to notice.

Cold hands. Heavy mornings. That leaden feeling in your legs by the evening. Poor circulation after 50 is the most common complaint, and the most ignored.
Copper plays a direct role in forming red blood cells. Worn at the wrist, one of the highest pulse points on the body, it sits right above the blood vessels closest to the surface of the skin, all day long.
Many of my customers describe a warmth they notice within the first few weeks. Not intense physical heat. Warmth. The difference between a body that struggles and a body that moves.
"I stopped losing words mid-sentence. My husband noticed before I did. I've worn my Elaine's Copper piece every single day for eight months and I'm not stopping."
Margaret T., 67 · Customer since 2019
The average woman over 50 has spent decades drinking from plastic bottles, using synthetic products and breathing in an environment her body was never built for.
Copper is one of the most powerful antimicrobial and antioxidant minerals in nature. It supports the liver. It helps neutralise free radicals. It works with the immune system, not against it.
You can't undo decades in one night. But you can give your body one of the oldest tools it's ever had.
"I never thought of myself as someone who believes in this sort of thing. But after a month I realised I was waking up without that heaviness I'd taken for granted for years. I'm not going back."
Rose B., 58 · Customer since 2021

Over 12,000 women have worn Elaine's Copper. Many bought pieces for their daughters. Their sisters. Their mothers. Many came back for a second, a third, a fourth piece, for different parts of the body, different members of the family.
One piece for herself, one to gift, that's why so many come back for a second.
When people keep coming back without being asked, you don't need any other proof.
Sandra M. and 12,000+ other women have made copper part of their everyday life.
Copper deficiency has been linked to cognitive decline, memory issues and neurological wear. Your brain needs copper to maintain neural connections and protect itself from oxidative damage.
Many of my customers over 60 describe a clarity that came back gradually. Quietly. Without being able to point to the exact moment something changed.
One woman told me: "I stopped losing words mid-sentence. My husband noticed before I did."

They aren't copper.
They're zinc, brass or steel, sprayed with a microscopic copper-coloured coating. It looks like copper. It costs almost nothing to make. And it offers none of the benefits, because almost none of that metal ever actually touches the skin.
| Plated "Copper" | Solid Pure Copper |
|---|---|
| Coated base metal, zinc, brass or steel | 99.9% pure copper, all the way through |
| Coating wears off within months | Lasts decades. Develops a patina. Improves with age. |
| Magnet sticks to it | Magnet does nothing |
| No skin absorption | Continuous transdermal absorption |
| £7 – £13 | What the real materials actually cost |
Every piece I make is solid pure copper. No plating. No base metal. No coating.
When my pieces occasionally leave a green mark on the skin, that's pure copper doing what pure copper does. It's the only proof that matters.
Most copper jewellery sold online isn't copper. It's plated metal, zinc or steel sprayed with a copper-coloured coating. There's one test that exposes it.
Hold a magnet up to it.
Real copper doesn't react. Fakes stick like keys to a keyring.
The Magnet Test Guarantee
When your piece arrives, run the test. If the magnet sticks, even a little, I'll refund every penny. And you keep the piece. Don't send it back. Keep it.
No piece I've ever made has stuck to a magnet. Not one. I'm willing to stake my work on that.

I've been offered mass-production contracts. I said no.
Because I knew what would have to change. Cheaper metal. Machine tooling. My name on something I'd never actually touched.
Every piece in this collection is shaped, stamped and finished by hand, one at a time.
Copper remembers the making. After all these years, I can't prove that. But I believe it.
"You feel the difference the moment you hold it. It's not light like the cheap jewellery I bought before. It has real weight, and a year on it's still the piece I wear every day."
Diane Fletcher, 61 · Customer since 2020
Pure copper doesn't degrade. It doesn't rust. It doesn't wear out. A piece made today will still be wearable in 100 years.
I have customers wearing pieces bought for their mothers. Pieces passed down through generations of the same family. Darker now. With a patina. Marked by decades of skin, sun and life.
This isn't a product. It's a legacy.
And it's a limited collection. When it's gone, it's gone.
